Optimisation of mixed-acid vanadium electrolyte for both full-cycle long-duration storage and constant-SOC data centre flow battery applications.

This project leverages a Demonstration and Scale-Up Testing Rig (DSTR) to optimise mixed-acid vanadium electrolyte formulations for high-performance flow battery operation across multiple use cases. The primary focus is enhancing electrolyte behaviour under full cycling conditions required for long-duration energy storage applications such as CHARG’s TEU systems.
In parallel, the project addresses optimisation for constant state-of-charge (SOC) operation used in SPLIT-Battery architectures for data centres, where continuous charge and discharge profiles place unique demands on electrolyte stability and efficiency.
By refining electrolyte performance across both dynamic and steady-state operating modes, the project supports broader commercial deployment of CHARG’s flow battery platforms in grid, industrial, and data centre environments.
